Hangchun Zheng(compare with Marita and Haley)

There are many differences and similarities between Haley and Marita story. The similarities among both story are they both commit plagiarism. Even know both of them commit the same crime, but there is a story behind both of them. In Haley’s case, she intentionally plagiarized. Which in Marita’s case, she was not intentionally plagiarized. The reason I said Haley intentionally plagiarize, because she already got caught once before for plagiarism. Teacher put her on probation as a punishment and warning. Some how, this punishment wouldn’t stop her from plagiarize again. When she wrote the second paper, she knows she was on the probation. Shortage of time, cause her want to plagiarize again. After she plagiarized on the second paper she know that she will be getting punish, but she never think of punish as expelled. In Marita's case, she had no idea that she committed plagiarism. Unexpected topic causes her want to go to the library and do some research on it. Marita did copy and past a lot of information, but she did give the credit to the person who wrote it. Marita came from a tough school, which Haley came from Harvard material school. Haley should know that better then Marita does. Marita was never thought that she might get punish or expel for that and Haley know for sure that she will get punish. The main difference is that Haley got one warning before and Marita never did. If Marita got one warning before, she probably will never make the same mistake. Since there are different situation among two of them, I don’t believe that they should be treated the same. I believe Marita should be given another chance, just like how Haley got on probation for the first time.
